Butch Blum

As one of the key photographers for Butch Blum, one of the Northwest’s leading fashion retailers, Pennington has been a major contributor to the store’s highly successful “real life” campaign. Using real customers as models, most recently Pennington shot a series for the “green” issue that included the leaders of the Northwest conservation movement including Senators Phil Rockefeller and Erik Poulsen as well as Seattle Mayor, Greg Nickels and King County Executive, Ron Simms. Using his skills as a fashion photographer, Pennington combines lighting and his in-studio expertise to create couture shots of real people. Navigating the complexity of fashion photography with the need to make real subjects comfortable in the studio setting, Pennington delivered shots of The Advocates, The Policymakers, The Educators, The Recyclers, The Organics, The Conservationists, and The Sustainers.

“Bob has worked for us on multiple BUTCH BLUM magazines, mainly creating ‘portraits’ of folks in our community doing good works. He is always thinking on his feet, flexible in the location, and never fails to hear what we, the client, are asking for – and then deliver just that. He has helped produce some of our most talked about articles, and operates as the consummate professional.”
